“I have downloaded a .rar file which is very rare and important to me. It is protected by password and I don’t have the password.”
Many people have met the same problem, when you have downloaded movies or something else from torrent or rapidshare, and when you try to open the downloaded RAR file, being asked for “Enter password for the encrypted file”. This is really annoying you, isn’t?
1. What is a RAR file
RAR is the native format of WinRAR archiver. Like other archives, RAR files are data containers, they store one or several files in the compressed form. After you downloaded RAR file from Internet, you need to unpack its contents in order to use it.
2. How to handle RAR files
WinRAR provides the complete support for RAR files, so you may both create and unpack them. If you installed WinRAR on your computer and downloaded RAR file from Internet, you may double click on RAR file icon to open it in WinRAR, select all files, press “Extract To” button, enter a destination path and press “OK”. Another way is to click on the RAR file in Explorer using the right mouse button. If you enabled “Shell integration” option when installing WinRAR, the file context menu will contain “Extract to …” item.
Some RAR files can be parts of multi-volume sequences. In WinRAR you can split a huge archive to a few smaller files, which are called volumes. They may have extensions .rar (the first volume), .r00, .r01, …, or .part1.rar (the first volume), .part2.rar, …, etc. If you need to unpack volumes, place all them to the same folder and start extraction from the first volume.
3. How to know password in WinRAR
Download a RAR Password Recovery Tool, with only few clicks, you can get to know RAR password.
Then just follow few steps: browse a locked rar file -> Select a attack type ->start rar password recovery -> get to know WinRAR password.
Tips for 3 Attacks.
a. Brute-Force Attack. This Attack will try all possible characters combinations in the specified Range. The Range is defined by Password Length and Brute-Force Range Options.
b. Brute-Force with Mask Attack. This Attack is useful when you remeber a part of Password. For example if you remember that length of your password was 6 characters and password begins from “M”, you can define the mask “M????” and save the time by trying 5 symbols instead of 6.M Password Mask must be defined to use this Attack.
c. Dictionary Attack. This Attack verifies the words stored in the specified Dictionary File. The dictionary is just the text (ASCII file) with one work at a line; the lines are separated with line breaks. You can set additional Dictionary Options for this Attack. A Dictionary Attack is much more faster than Brute-Force so we recommend to run it first.
